How does this medication work?
Norfloxacin is an antibiotic that belongs to the class of medications called quinolones. It is used for treatment of infections caused by certain types of bacteria. It is most commonly used to treat urinary tract (bladder) infections.

How should I use this medication?
The usual recommended adult dose is 400 mg twice daily, taken with a glass of water at least one hour before or two hours after a meal or milk. It is advisable to drink plenty of liquids (water or juice) every day unless your doctor has told you otherwise. Norfloxacin should not be taken within two hours of taking iron, zinc supplements, or multivitamins containing them. The dose of norfloxacin can vary depending on the circumstances and the condition being treated.
Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the one above, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
It is very important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medication even if you feel better. Stopping too soon may cause your symptoms to return. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue on with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

This medication should not be used by anyone allergic to norfloxacin, other quinolones (including nalidixic acid), or any other ingredients of the medication. |
