Nasacort Information
Nasacort is a popular medicine that belongs to a wide class of drugs known as steroids. Such medicines are known to prevent the unwanted release of some substances in the patient's organism (substances that cause inflammation). This medicine is used in the treatment of itching, sneezing and running nose (these conditions may be caused by hay fever or seasonal allergies).
Nasacort Indications
Nasacort is a medicine that is used in the treatment of itching, sneezing and running nose (conditions that may be caused by hay fever or other seasonal allergies). However, this drug can also be used in the treatment or in the prevention of some other disorders that have not been mentioned here.
Nasacort Warnings
You must not start taking this drug if you are suffering from known allergic reactions to this drug or to its ingredients. Before you start a treatment with this medicine, make sure that you personal physician knows if you are suffering from:
• infections;
• tuberculosis;
• if you have had recent nose injury or nose surgery.
If you have these medical conditions, you may not be allowed to take Nasacort, or you may have to take a lower dose of this drug. This medicine is a category C FDA pregnancy drug. Therefore, a treatment with this medicine could harm a growing fetus. Ask your personal physician if you may take this drug if you are pregnant (or if you plan to be so soon). It has not been determined whether this drug can pass into breast milk. Ask your personal doctor if it is safe to take Nasacort while breastfeeding an infant. Ask a pediatrician if you may give this medicine to a child under 12 years of age.

Some symptoms do not improve in the first few days of treatment with this medicine. Do not stop your treatment with Nasacort without your physician's consent. A treatment with this medicine can lower the number of blood cells that normally fight against infections, thus making you more prone to bleeding or to developing illnesses. You should avoid being near patients who have infections or other illnesses during your treatment with this medicine.
Nasacort Intake Guidelines
Ask your personal doctor how and when to take this medicine. Do not disobey from any of your physician's advices. If you fail to understand any of them, you should ask a pharmacist, a nurse or a doctor for further explanations. You should read the instructions on the drug’s label. Before you use Nasacort, you should gently blow your nose in order to clear both your nostrils. Shake the drug’s container before using it. To use the Nasacort nasal inhaler:
• Remove the inhaler's protective cap.
• Hold the drug's inhaler between your forefinger and your thumb, slightly tilt your head back and then insert the drug's inhaler in one of your nostrils (hold the other one closed with a finger).
• Release the spray by pressing down on the drug's container and gently inhale it. You should hold your breathe for a couple of seconds, then slowly breath out through your mouth.
• Replace the inhaler's white protective cap.
• You should weekly clean the inhaler.
• Throw away the inhaler after 100 sprays.
To use Nasacort nasal spray:
• Before you use the spray for the very first time, you should prime the pump of the spray (spray the drug into the air), until you see a fine mist. Prime the pump of the spray in this way any time if you have not used it for more than 14 days.
• Hold the spray (point the tip into one nostril), bend your head a little forward and hold your other nostril closed with a finger. Gently sniff while pumping the spray unit.
• Throw away the spray after 120 sprays.
You should avoid blowing your nose for at least 15 minutes after you have used the medication.
This drug should be stored at room temperature, away from heat and moisture, in a dry place. It is best that you keep it away from children and pets, in order to avoid unwanted accidents. Keep the clip and the cover on the pump of the nasal spray when you do not use it. Keep the drug's protective cap on the Nasacort nasal inhaler when you are not using it.
Nasacort Dosage
Ask your doctor to tell you the dose of Nasacort that you should take. Do not make any alterations to the dose that he or she has prescribed you without your physician's consent.
Nasacort Overdose
If you suspect that you might be suffering from Nasacort overdose (if you have used a higher drug amount) you should seek immediate medical attention. An overdose with this drug should not produce any life threatening effects or symptoms.
Nasacort Missed Dose
In order to get the proper results from your treatment with Nasacort, you should take it on a regular basis. If you forget to take a dose of this drug, you should take it as soon as you recall. If it is time for another scheduled dose, it is recommended that you skip the one that you have missed and proceed with your regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking extra doses of Nasacort without your physician's approval.
Nasacort Side Effects
If you experience any signs of allergic reactions, you should seek emergency medical care. You should stop your treatment with Nasacort and alert your personal physician if you have any of these dangerous (severe) side effects:
• weakness, nausea, tired feeling, weight loss, loss of appetite;
• fever, chills, flu-like symptoms, body aches;
• easy bleeding or bruising, unusual weakness;
• sores or white patches on your lips or inside your mouth;
You may continue your treatment with Nasacort, but you should alert your doctor if you experience these less severe side effects:
• stinging, nose bleeding, burning;
• sneezing after using this drug;
• sore throat, stuffy nose, cough;
• headache;
• watery eyes;
• nausea, vomiting;
• hearing problems, ear pain;
• an unpleasant smell or taste.
Other side effects apart from those listed here can also occur. Alert your physician if you experience anything bothersome or unusual during or shortly after your treatment with Nasacort.
Nasacort Drug Reactions
Nasacort could harmfully interact with some drugs that are available in pharmacies (this includes minerals, vitamins, herbal products, etc). Ask your personal physician if you may take any other drugs during your treatment with this medicine.
